What is the ICC?

Introduced in 1999, revised in 2005, the ICC is designed to prove competence in boat handling, navigation and knowledge of the collision regulations (IRPCS). It is the only qualification, other than the professional Maritime Coastguard Agency, that is recognised in the whole of Europe and further afield.

How do I get my ICC?

Having already attended a RYA practical training course, presenting your certificate with your ICC application form may be sufficient, otherwise you will need to take a practical test.

The ICC has five categories.
1. Power up to 10m Inland
2. Power up to 24m Inland
3. Power up to 10m Coastal
4. Power up to 24m Coastal
5. Sail up to 24m Coastal

At Compass Sea School we offer the ICC as:

Power up to 10m (Coastal) - normally achieved upon successful completion of the RYA Level 2 Powerboat Course (2 days).

Power up to 24m (Coastal)- as an own boat tuition (over 2 days) provided that your vessel is within this category (i.e. over 30ft).
